Boozman Unveils Senate Ag Republicans Farm Bill Framework

This week, the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, released the Senate Republican-drafted framework of the Farm Bill.

"Following on the House Committee on Agriculture’s bipartisan passage of farmer-focused farm bill, we are putting forth a framework that exhibits a shared common ground with our Democrat counterparts on several key priorities and offers a path forward in the places where we differ."

- U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR)

An overview of the framework and title-by-title highlights are available on the Senate Ag. Committee's website here. A summary of Horticulture Title X is available here.

While the framework does NOT specifically mention hemp, this release signals that the committee is serious about getting a Farm Bill moving to reposition U.S. agriculture as a leader in the global marketplace.

It is also notable that there is no mention of adding langauge similar to the Miller Amendment that was added to the House Ag. Commitee Farm Bill version, which would change the definition of hemp and create a new definition for hemp-derived cannabinoid pooducts.
